In 2001 FJ Rock’n’Roll made radical changes, relocating to King Island, Bass Strait, in the heart of the Roaring 40’s. Here the beautiful wild coastal wildernesses contrasts with the rich farmland, which produces our famous cheeses and succulent beef. Visit our website to learn more.

The Island has a relaxed lifestyle, but it has not slowed my dancing feet or musical interests. With my wife and soulmate, Peta, I have joined the King Island Band, playing Tenor Sax (Peta plays percussion).

We have run several very successful dance courses here, each course finishing with a lively graduation party. The Island will never be the same again - dancers of all ages are coming out of the woodwork, including a three generation family.

My dance history began in 1989 as a student of Jan and Kevin Gosper at their studio in Windsor NSW. Coaching continued over the next few years with George and Lyn Czender, at their Dance Down Under Studio at Hoxton Park.

In 1995, I Choreographed, Produced, Co-Directed and danced in the video Advanced Variations in Rock'n'Roll Liftwork. The video, an Australian first, has reached out throughout Australia, the USA, Singapore and the World. The video depicts air steps in slow motion for study. I have travelled through Europe and to the United States learning Lindy Hop and the American Swing Style from the famous Frank Manning and Erin Stevens. In addition, I have organised and conducted many Rock'n'Roll workshops throughout Australia, Europe and Bangkok. I have achieved State, National and International Champion status.

We now have a Tasmanian branch of the Australian Rock'n'Roll Dance Council formed here on King Island. Our four representatives are Peta, myself, Bill Hamilton and Teegan Batey.
